Roles: Freelance Writers
Application Deadline: February 20, 2013

The GATE, an independent online entertainment magazine in Toronto, is looking for passionate, creative, and exceptional writers to contribute articles on a freelance basis.

About the work:
Vibrant, compelling writers with experience conducting interviews and writing reviews are needed to cover independent film and music as part of a new project to enhance The GATE’s features and reviews sections.

Primarily, The GATE is seeking pitches for interviews and similar features, but reviews or commentary articles are also welcome.

Writers must work well under the normal pressures of writing for a deadline, and have a unique approach to their writing and overall style. The GATE is looking for writers who have a passion for entertainment, and know how to write stories that will inspire our readers.

About The GATE:
Founded by W. Andrew Powell in 2000, this year marks The GATE’s 13th anniversary covering music, film, television, gaming, and local events. In that time, The GATE has enjoyed contributions from a number of journalists and authors, with coverage of numerous major festivals and events, including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Juno Awards, Canadian Music Week, North by Northeast, Sundance, E3, and CES, just to name a few.

How to apply:
Send 2-3 writing samples, along with your résumé, and 1-3 pitches for article ideas (features or reviews). [Applications no longer being accepted.]

Please, no calls or follow-up emails.

The GATE appreciates all applications submitted, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
